Senior Quality Inspector

Role Responsibility

  • Be the Quality Team representative on site and provide process and technical guidance on Quality matters to the Delivery and Quality Teams.
  • Be the eyes of the Quality team on site and report back to the Quality Asset Lead and Senior Quality Manage/Quality Manager on issues that require escalation.
  • Check the works during progress and on completion to ensure that they have been constructed in line with the project requirements (Specifications, WI, PTRs, etc.) and the supporting documentation is produced (check sheets completion, raising of NCRs, all testing is carried out on site as per requirements).
  • Undertake site inspections and compliance checks of the works on site, based on an approved Detail Design using the ITP and construction drawings for that purpose.
  • Raise and record any snags identified on site and ensure those are addressed before the comments recorded can be closed.  Close the snag when works are completed as per project requirements.
  • Manage the West Delivery Unit Quality Inspection Team. Plan inspection coverage, allocating resources to ensure works are inspected as per ITP requirements.
  • Provide support and holiday cover to Quality Inspectors.
  • Collaboratively support Quality Managers and Quality Engineers on the production and review of assurance records, certification packages and submissions for handed over in accordance with SCSJV and Client requirements for construction certification.
  • In addition to the above discipline role, the Senior Quality Inspector must carry out his/her duties in accordance with the SCSJV Core Values. Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes, and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

The Ideal Candidate

  • CSCS card
  • Professional UK qualification within quality
  • Experience within quality inspector role on a major infrastructure or tunnelling project.
  • Experience ensuring that works on site are carried out in line with the inspection test plans and design drawings and that during progress and on completion the works have been constructed in line with the Work Information.
  • Experience communicating with delivery teams and sub-contractors to ensure full understanding of quality assurance requirements.
  • Experience acting as arbiter between all parties on any quality related issues, without compromising quality.
  • Experience coaching and providing training to junior engineers and site teams in general.
  • Computer competence (MS Word, Excel).

Desirable:

  • Member of IRCA or CQI
  • Knowledge of other Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015, ISO 27001:2013, OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 44001:2017 etc.)

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
