Quality Manager
Job Introduction
Quality Management is an integral part of process compliance and continuous improvement across all aspects of the SCSJV project. The Quality Manager will work as member of the Area West Quality Team, that is responsible for developing and maintaining the Quality Management System which includes the monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of SCSJV policies, plans, procedures and associated documentation.

Role Responsibility
- The Quality Manager will be responsible for contributing to the SCS Quality Team in development and implementation of the Quality Management Systems on site and the maintenance of the ISO 9001:2015 certification.
- Understand the Client and SCSJV’s Policies, Processes, Works Information, statutory requirements and ensure that the set requirements are adopted and effectively implemented on the project.
- Working collaboratively and support the Area West Lead Quality Manager, Package Manager(s) and Supply Chain in the production of specific Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans and procedures for review, acceptance and implementation.
- Collaboratively support the Delivery Team and Supply Chain in the production and review of assurance records, certification packages and submissions for handed over in accordance with SCSJV and Client requirements for construction certification.
- The monitoring and measurement of all quality assurance activities to ensure that it complies with the Works Information and aligned with HS2’s Quality requirements.
- Carry out formal surveillances to ensure that inspection and tests are carried out in line with the Inspection and Test Plans and Safe System of Work for the controlling the works and that all necessary documentation is produced in a timely manner.
- Active user of the SCS Zutec and TPC electronic quality record systems to manage review, collation, closure and packaging the QA records. Mentoring and coach others on its operation and use.
- Implement the Audit and Surveillance Programme for site activities (including Supply Chain audits).
- Accountable for the coordination of site-specific Non-Conformance Reporting, Defects process, making sure that trend analysis and statistics are undertaken in accordance with SCSJV NCR process.
- Ensure that quality management is given the highest priority in the delivery of the works, to achieve right first time.
- Promoting the pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement. Recommend and implement changes to achieve operating efficiencies and right first time. Plan and lead lessons learnt activities, trend and route cause analysis.
- Accountable for reporting on the site-specific performance of the management system, on quality KPIs and ensuring records are produced contemporaneously and efficiently. Contributing to monthly 'Forecast and Reporting’ (F&R) to the wider SCS and client teams
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in managing quality, independent verification processes, supporting quality closure and certification on infrastructure projects.
- Internal and external audit, on-site, technical auditing experience
- Management of quality systems in large construction project
- Professional qualification – Degree / HND or equivalent in civil engineering or an appropriate professional qualification.
- Good knowledge and practical experience of , implementing, maintaining and improving Quality Management Systems to the standard BS EN ISO 9001: 2015.
- Computer competence in MS suite - Word, Excel, Powerpoint
- Computer competence in the use of digital tools e.g. Zutec, Assetwise, TPC, EMT or similar
- Relevant CSCS Card.
- Member of IRCA or CQI
- Knowledge of other Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015, ISO 27001:2013, OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 44001:2017 etc.)

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
