BIM Manager

Job Introduction

The BIM Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation and management of BIM processes, standards, and deliverables across the project lifecycle. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient exchange of information among project stakeholders and maintaining alignment with the client's requirements.

  • Supporting the BIM Lead in implementing BIM standards, methods, and procedures.
  • Facilitating and managing BIM information exchange processes among project team members, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Developing, auditing, sharing, and managing the Project Information Model and Asset Information Model.
  • Assisting in the development of discipline-specific supply chain works information guidance.
  • Supporting the upskilling of the Supply Chain in BIM software and processes.
  • Guiding and developing the BIM team in terms of skills, competencies, and collaborative behaviours.
  • Liaising with other BIM teams and stakeholders to ensure sharing of best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Establishing and maintaining an integrated data reporting approach to drive BIM single source methodology.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of 3D GIS and manage data correctly and efficiently.
  • Driving innovation and upskilling of the BIM and project team to deliver a next-generation BIM approach.
  • Developing and implementing automation scripts using Python, FME, or other software to streamline BIM workflows and improve efficiency.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience as a BIM Coordinator or Lead in large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of BIM standards, such as PAS 1192 and ISO 19650 series.
  • Proficiency in BIM software, such as Bentley suite (MicroStation, ProjectWise, AssetWise) and Autodesk (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).
  • Experience in developing and implementing BIM Execution Plans, standards, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of data management, automation, and integration of 4D (scheduling) and 5D (cost) dimensions into BIM.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to guide and mentor team members in BIM processes and technologies.
  • Familiarity with GIS and its integration with BIM is desirable.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python and FME for automating BIM processes and data management.
  • A strong work ethic and enthusiasm for continuous learning and improvement.

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
