Temporary Works Coordinator
Job Introduction
We are seeking an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) to join our team delivering the HS2 London Tunnels contract. Working in the Temporary Works team, you’ll be at the heart of solving complex engineering problems. Temporary works are critical to the success of HS2, requiring innovative thinking, precision, and collaboration. You’ll ensure that every temporary structure is safe, efficient, and compliant —while mentoring others and influencing design decisions that impact the permanent works.
Reporting to the Temporary Works Manager you will manage Temporary Works Supervisors (TWS) and construction supervisors, ensuring all Temporary Works are designed, implemented, and dismantled safely and in compliance with BS5975:2019, PAS8811:2017, HS2 and SCS procedures.

Role Responsibility
- Apply principles of Principal Contractor’s TWC as defined in BS5975:2019, PAS8811:2017, HS2 and SCS procedures.
- Coordinate all Temporary Works activities and ensure compliance with project procedures.
- Produce and review detailed design briefs in consultation with stakeholders.
- Liaise with permanent works designers regarding temporary conditions and loads.
- Ensure designs are independently checked and documented.
- Maintain TW documentation within site management systems.
- Issue permits to load/proceed and dismantle upon satisfactory checks.
- Mentor TWSs and site engineers; deliver regular briefings on design limitations and safety.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and environmental/sustainability policies.

The Ideal Candidate
- Civil or Structural Engineering qualification (HNC/HND minimum; BEng/MEng/MSc preferred).
- Proven experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator on large civil engineering projects.
- CSCS card.
- CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Course (preferred).
- SMSTS certification (preferred).
- Strong understanding of BS5975:2019, PAS8811/8812, and CDM Regulations 2015.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and team leadership skills.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
