Technical Assurance Engineer

Job Introduction

Assurance Engineer will report into the Area South Construction Manager and drive the achievement of the high quality progressive assurance and interface management. To achieve this the Assurance Engineer will work collaboratively with delivery teams and support functions. The role will predominantly be site based, working out of the Euston Offices, however there are opportunities for flexibility in work location and times.

Role Responsibility

  • Lead construction team handover, technical assurance, and interface delivery working closely with the delivery team and project support functions
  • Practical implementation of the SCS Technical Assurance and Interfaces policies and procedures.
  • Provide delivery inputs to the Technical Assurance and Technical Interfaces Team to assist with the development, management, implementation, and monitoring of relevant management systems
  • Understand asset related Technical Assurance to be provided to the Client.
  • Assist Technical Assurance and Interfaces Teams with inputs for HS2 surveillance where required.
  • Attend TAPAS review meetings with Technical Assurance Team and the Client.
  • Develop and maintain asset specific Technical Assurance Plans for Construction and Handover
  • Develop and maintain asset specific Interface Management Plans and Interface Control Documents for Construction and Handover
  • Provide guidance and reviews for Sub-package TIDP creation
  • Develop and maintain Master Level TIDP creation
  • Collaborate with support function teams such as BIM, Consents, Community Engagement, Environment, Security, Rail Systems, Quality, etc to ensure asset specific requirements met
  • Manage a Document Controller and Deliverable Assurance Co-ordinator
  • Monitor and provide guidance to the team on asset specific Legal Undertakings and Assurances, facilitating practical implementation
  • Attend Technical Assurance training/ briefings provided by the project
  • Promote best practice, capture best practice, and ensure it is fed-back into the business and parent companies.

The Ideal Candidate

  • To be able to collaborate across a wide team and gather information.
  • Formal education in a related subject, such as a Degree or Apprenticeship
  • Experienced and proven track record of working with commercially sensitive information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Outlook and general IT literacy
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Experienced with reporting and forecasting
  • Experienced with working with senior members of staff
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbally
  • Self-motivated
  • Leadership skills
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines
  • Meticulous in data entry and checking quality of output.

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts which include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The combined value of the contracts is around £1.8billion with the works due for completion in 2025. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
