Systems Engineers (all levels)

Job Introduction

SCS Railways are looking for Systems Engineers from all industries and backgrounds to join the team working to deliver the HS2 London Tunnels project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network, and the scope of works for SCS Railways includes all main civil works from Euston to West Ruislip.

Systems Engineers are active in several parts of the core team including Requirements Management, Verification, Systems Safety and Interoperability, Configuration and Change Management, Process Modelling, Technical Assurance and Technical Interfaces. Working closely with engineers from other disciplines, the Systems Engineers at SCS Railways support the delivery and assurance of design and construction works.

Areas of focus range across many of the systems lifecycle processes: Requirement’s definition, System analysis, Integration, Verification, Transition, Validation, Configuration Management, Change Management, Lifecycle Model management, Quality management, Knowledge management, System Safety, and others.

The Systems Engineers at SCS work flexibly to achieve their results. This may mean a combination of home working, office-based working for collaborative discussions, and site-based working for engagement with the team delivering the works. The Systems Engineering community in SCS is supported by an active network of mentors and project leads across the teams and functions that our engineers work within. There is a real commitment to professional registration and certification, with all members of the Systems community encouraged and supported to attain an INCOSE SEP certification, IEng or CEng. Although the Systems Engineers may be spread throughout multiple teams, each with a different focus, the community of practice allows all engineers of the systems capability the opportunity to network, engage, share best practice, and learn. There are roles that suit early careers Engineers who may have recently graduated, through to senior experts in their field.

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.

Develop a culture of safety on the project through the absolute commitment to the Zero Accidents target and ethos, and develops a wider awareness of quality, environmental issues and demonstrates commitment to achieve continual improvement and Zero tolerance.
