Suitably Qualified Security Specialist

Job Introduction

About the role:

  • To enable SCS JV to arrive at appropriate, proportionate, and effective security solutions.
  • To view and read HS2 and DH security information and assist SCS JV’s internal SMEs where required (e.g access control/cyber security questions etc.)
  • To enable SCS JV to review the deliverables produced by the DH SQSS.  For clarity, DH retain the obligation to ensure their deliverables are complaint to the HS2 works information and therefore no liability is taken by the SQSS as to their compliance.
  • To comment and check that DH are in general delivering in line with expectations.
  • To be present in discussions between DH and HS2 relating to design development and resolution.
  • To enable SCS JV visibility and the opportunity to participate in these discussions and highlight matters to SCS JV which may need further action (e.g. provide commercial team with information to enable SCS JV to raise an EWN).
  • To advise SCS JV on security topics

Functional management will be via the Head of Design. The role requires the ability to self-start and progress with only minimal briefing required.

Role Responsibility

  • Review of HS2 Security Works information
  • Review of Design House Deliverables completed to date to confirm completeness and compliance to Works Information
  • Liaise with HS2 Security leads in ongoing discussions relating to security topics
  • Work close with the area teams to ensure suitable compliance to security requirements
  • Input into designs which will include liaising with consultants, specialists and design and build contractors across a multitude of design disciplines
  • Leading the day to day management of security design to programme budget, assurance and quality - providing the primary security interface with the sector and work package teams
  • Providing support to the designers in achieving the correct design outcomes
  • Management of design risk
  • Management of design assumptions
  • Reviewing and contributing to the management of change where it affects design
  • Close working with client counterparts in a collaborative manner.
  • Managing other stakeholders on aspects of security design
  • Maintenance of schedules and trackers relating to legislation and clients’ procedures
  • Applying and maintaining SCSJV, HS2 and statutory providers’ governance procedures
  • Interface and manage internal security input to design for example H+S, Environment, Planning, Engineering, Community, Legacy, Technical Assurance, Commercial, Quality, BIM.
  • Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project

The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

  • Sabre Approved Security Specialist
  • Design project management experience within construction
  • People Management and stakeholder management experience

Desirable:

  • Experience of managing interface with rail and utility organisations
  • Chartered member of recognised institution
  • CSCS card

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
