Sub Agent - Asset Protection

Job Introduction

The Sub Agent will play a key role within the Asset Protection team, supporting the safe and compliant delivery of works adjacent to third-party infrastructure, including Network Rail, TfL and other Third-Party assets. This role is essential to ensure that construction activities are planned and executed in accordance with agreed protection measures, permits, and stakeholder consenting requirements.

 

The successful candidate will assist the Section Engineer and site engineers in managing site operations, coordinating with subcontractors and the delivery team. The candidate should have good understanding of technical assurance, health & safety compliance, project management activities, including programme tracking, risk mitigation, and stakeholder liaison.

 

This position is based in North Acton, accessible via North Acton Station or Willesden Junction Station, with weekday working hours and a permanent contract.

Role Responsibility

  • Support the Section Engineers, Site Engineers, and wider team in planning and delivering works adjacent to third-party assets, ensuring compliance with asset protection requirements.
  • Coordinate with Network Rail, TfL and other stakeholders to secure necessary approvals, permits, and possessions.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Permits to Work, and Task Briefing Sheets,
  • Monitor site activities to ensure adherence to agreed protection measures and escalate any deviations or risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of third-party interactions, approvals, and protection documentation.
  • Contribute to Early Warning Notices and Risk Reduction Meetings in line with NEC3 contract requirements.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and site teams to ensure safe and compliant execution of works.
  • Support the resolution of technical queries and interface issues related to third-party assets.
  • Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, and proactive risk management within the team.
    • Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

The Ideal Candidate

Required qualifications,  skills, behaviours and attributes

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a Sub Agent or Engineering role on infrastructure or rail projects.
  • Familiarity with asset protection procedures, particularly in relation to Network Rail or utility interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of NEC3 contract principles and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies and temporary works.

 

Desired qualifications,   skills, behaviours and attributes

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and document control systems
  • CSCS card and relevant safety training (e.g., PTS, Confined Space).

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
