Role

Senior Quantity Surveyor in the Technical Directorate Design Commercial Team predominantly focused on supporting the Commercial Manager with the commercial administration of the £350m Design Subcontract.   The Senior Quantity Surveyor will need to be self-motivated,

disciplined and commercially astute with the ability to identify, analyse and develop responses to

commercial risks. The role will require excellent communication and customer facing skills along with

working as part of a team promoting our culture and values. You will consider problems as a challenge,

collect information relevant to the problem, be disciplined in ascertaining the root cause, identify and

develop a practical solution, communicate the findings and implement action to resolve the problem

Role Responsibility

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will lead on various aspects of the commercial management and contractual administration of the £350m Design Subcontract and will support the Commercial Manager in this role.

 

As Senior Quantity Surveyor you may be required to get involved with change management, the management of project insurances and notification of claims - Sub-contract Enquiries - Tender Appraisal - Sub-contract negotiation - Project Evaluation – Measurement of the Works - Sub-contract Management – commercial risk and opportunity management, preparation and agreement of Applications and progress reporting. 

The Ideal Candidate

Required qualifications,  skills, behaviours and attributes

  • Degree or equivalent level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related construction subject
  • Strong Problem Solving Can-Do Approach
  • Very Good Knowledge in Microsoft Excel
  • Preferably Experience in Design and Rail or Infrastructure projects
  • Preferably qualified to ICES or RICS accreditation and Relevant CSCS Card

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts which include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The combined value of the contracts is around £1.8billion with the works due for completion in 2025.  Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
