Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Introduction

To support requirements of the SCS Area Central commercial team, due to maternity leave of resource from existing team and cover resource is required to lead the value recovery of target, to maximise opportunity for SCS to meet its KPIs in accordance with X20 and implement best practice within the teams to correctly administer

Role Responsibility

  • Implementing effective change management procedures in line with NEC3 contract requirements.
  • Reviewing and analysing change requests, including variations, claims, and compensation events.
  • Assessing the impact of changes on project costs, timeframes, and contractual obligations.
  • Collaborating with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and subcontractors, to negotiate and agree on changes.
  • Preparing comprehensive change control documentation, including CEs, quotation narratives and variations registers
  • Evaluating the financial implications of changes and providing accurate cost forecasts.
  • Collaborating with the wider commercial team to ensure accurate reporting of threats and/or opportunity
  • Monitoring and tracking project costs vs target value
  • Participating in value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate


  • Relevant Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Strong contract experience. NCE3 or similar
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel.
  • Right to Work in the UK


  • Experience of Itwo (or similar commercial control software)
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Experience working on a major/mega infrastructure project
  • Experience in rail or infrastructure projects.
  • Problem solving can-do approach.
  • Proactive

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
