Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Introduction

Our Skanska Costain STRABAG joint venture team is working in partnership with HS2 to deliver the new London tunnels from Euston to West Ruislip. Our joint venture team is working on multiple sites, building tunnels 13 miles long and up to 50m deep, supporting delivery of HS2 phase one.

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our HS2 Utilities team onsite at London Euston. Reporting into the Utilities Commercial Lead, you will be responsible for efficiently managing all commercial aspects of the Utilities Budget Item and maintain regular liaison with all stakeholders.

Role Responsibility

  • Liaise with area commercial teams and support with the production of monthly out-turn forecast reports, assisting with the presentation of key management information to HS2.
  • Support on the procurement of Utilities subcontracts, including benchmarking and commercial review of price / programmes as part of stage procurement reviews.
  • Preparation, review and negotiation of Commercial documentation and agreements.
  • Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and contract budget reports.
  • Liaise with East and Core commercial teams - providing support with the production of monthly out turn forecast reports.
  • Identify and administer appropriate, timely information to support change control processes.
  • Be responsible for contract administration of the Budget Item through recognised platform (CEMAR)
  • Manage and Administer subcontracts from initial placement of order to final account.
  • Support the development of more junior members of the Commercial team.
  • Client interfacing tasks including reporting of key commercial activities.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Hold a degree Quantity Surveying role or related construction subject; or relevant experience working in the field.
  • Relevant CSCS Cardholder
  • Preferably qualified, working toward, or interested in working toward an ICES or RICS accreditation.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing commercial aspects on projects or works ideally in the utilities field.
  • Demonstrable subcontract management of NEC 3 Contracts in excess of £10m.
  • Relevant commercial experience preferably within a contracting organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing commercial aspects of projects or works.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Practical approach, logical thought process and a methodical way of working. Demonstrate a creative and innovative approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge and experience.
  • Confidence and ability to assert influence.
  • Mentorship skills

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
