Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role Responsibility

To support requirements of the SCS Area Central tunnels’ commercial team, due to increase in workload and capacity of existing team as works progress towards onsite set up and commencement of works at both ARLT and OOC SCL, current team capacity is constrained to discharge duties effectively and requirements will progressively increase, as demonstrated by FTE task tracker.

Duties shall include, but not be limited to:

Contract administration

  • Ensuring efficient management of all commercial functions of the supply chain management such as NEC contracts, GPAs, purchase and material orders
  • Review, approve and ensure payment [in accordance with SCS process] of interim and final account related to the supply chain
  • Provide commercial support to the tunnels commercial team
  • Liaising and co-ordinating with operations, design house, project controls and procurement
  • Ensuring compliance with the MWCC

Procurement

  • Providing commercial input to procurement process during the Hold Point phase from ITT to award
  • Negotiating terms and conditions with supply chain, supporting Procurement squads
  • Tracking buying losses/gains and residual buyback

Cost Management

  • Ensuring cost to date is recorded, collated, and reported in accordance with SCS requirements
  • Provide input to monthly F&R reporting forecasts
  • Maintain and update progressive bottom up forecast within i2

Change management

  • Raise and highlight early warnings, compensation events in accordance with the MWCC
  • Prepare, submit, and agree mitigations to early warnings

People

  • Provide support and training for site staff on commercial issues

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Relevant Degree (equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel.

Desirable:

  • Strong contract experience.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Experience in Rail or Infrastructure projects.
  • Problem solving can-do approach.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts which include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
