Senior Planner (Logistics)

Job Introduction

The Logistics Planner will join the SCS Logistics team that manages logistics across the HS2 main works. They will be responsible for the planning, monitoring and forecasting of all logistics activities.

The Logistics Planner will need to develop and maintain the overall logistics programme, ensuring alignment with the overall contract programme requirements, compliance with the SCS planning standards and HS2 requirements to provide a safe, efficient and cost effective programme meeting all key logistics milestone dates.

The individual will coordinate planning activity as part of the logistics team alongside the logistics operations, control tower and rail teams. There will also be the need for interface with the area and core planning teams to ensure the logistics team is aligned with any movements in key activities and change impact assessments.

The role is aimed at construction professionals who can demonstrate a track-record of achievement in project, people and client management in large scale projects. The key areas of responsibility, experience and skill and are shown below. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate their suitability at interview.  

Role Responsibility

  • Plan, monitoring and forecasting of all logistics activities
  • Maintain short term and long term look ahead programmes for logistics activities
  • Interfacing with SCS planning and functional teams as required to develop a comprehensive logistics programme
  • Ensuring the logistics programme meets all required milestones and key dates in compliance with the Employer’s Planning requirements, contract data and works information.
  • Cooperation with the Project Controls and Change Management in all related construction logistics programme matters.
  • Ensure programmes are coded correctly and implement regular quality checks

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree in civil engineering or an appropriate qualification
  • Prior experience in planning function in Civil Engineering projects
  • Project management & planning
  • Knowledge of the development and implementation of, Planning Standards, WBS and Planning processes in a BIM environment.
  • Competence in Primavera P6 and Tilos,
  • Good IT skills eg Excel, Word, PowerPoint (essential)
  • Working with construction site teams
  • Compiling KPIs and reports
  • Experience of working in high-pressure, complex operational and political environments, working at pace to deadlines and responding to rapidly changing circumstances and objectives
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in English (essential)
  • Good organisation skills (essential)
  • Knowledge of Safety, Environment and Risk Management

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contracts. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
