Security Manager

Job Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Security Manager with a proven track record in loss prevention to lead our Inventory, Security, and Compliance Function in relation to asset control across SCS Railways. 

Overall responsibility to oversee inventory accuracy, manage asset-related risks, and asset loss to ensure all processes meet the highest standards across construction sites and offices within the designated delivery area. Reporting to Senior Security Manager, the Security Manager: Loss Prevention will be responsible for liaising with the SCS construction teams, procurement teams, suppliers and ethics team, to protect our construction sites and teams against relevant threats, handling both security and loss prevention risk across all areas. 

Working with the existing SCS Railways security team to determine and deliver the loss prevention strategy for SCS Railways, ensuring alignment with wider project objectives, budgets, and measurable outcomes that drive meaningful reduction in stock loss. 

There will be requirement to support the wider SCS Railways security team as required in relation to the day-to-day project related security matters, management of security resources and risk management. 

Role Responsibility

  • Oversee inventory accuracy, manage asset-related risks, and ensure all processes meet the highest standards.
  • Leading the identification and management of asset loss across end-to-end operations, using data, insight, and cross-functional collaboration to identify root causes and deliver sustainable solutions.
  • Creating and embedding processes, policies, and supporting tools that promote a strong loss prevention culture across SCS Railways, ensuring they are clear, practical, and accessible for all teams.
  • Security Management: Protect site assets and coordinate security measures, including theft investigations and compliance with security protocols.
  • Auditing and Compliance: Ensure adherence to legislative requirements and lead audit compliance.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data-driven insights to identify stock discrepancy trends and implement preventative measures.
  • Briefing and guidance of the project team, subcontractors, suppliers and 3rd parties on the loss prevention strategy and procedures.
  • Contribute to the identification of vulnerabilities (e.g., loss, associate experience, process improvement) and define appropriate mitigating actions while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Investigating and reporting any breaches, losses or misappropriation of SCS assets to the correct authorities for their actions.
  • Driving innovation and the upskilling of the project team in all security matters and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting the wider SCS Railways security management team as required.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience in operational processes, stock control, and compliance within a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant security- or risk-related education or experience (e.g., security services, asset protection, loss prevention, risk management, inventory management, investigations, supply chain, auditing, compliance, or similar).
  • Experience in warehouse operations and logistics or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
  • Experience of conducting investigations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of security systems, GDP standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • A solution-oriented mindset and the ability to manage change effectively.

 

Desirable Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience within major construction projects.
  • Experience of supervising SIA security officers.
  • Diploma in Security Management (NVQ Level 5) or industry related equivalent qualification in loss prevention.
  • Member of ‘The Security Institute’ or ASIS.
  • Relevant CSCS Card.
  • Driver’s license.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
