Section Engineer
Job Introduction
As a result of PMIs for additional works and ramp-up instructions for works in Euston, we have vacancies for Section Engineers within the Earthworks & Structures Delivert Unit.
As Section Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and driving the engineering aspects of a section of works, ensuring delivery in line with programme, budget, and safety standards. The role involves coordination across site disciplines and leadership of the Site Engineering team.
Role Responsibility
- Lead 6-week lookahead planning and readiness reviews
- Manage site documentation: RAMS, WPPs, TBSs, permits, Lift Plans
- Approve TIDPs, draft TWDBs, ITPs, and quality packs
- Coordinate site works and ensure planning handover to teams
- Review designs, raise FCDs, RFIs, STQs, and complete redlines
- Conduct inspections, checksheets, and temporary works reviews
- Use Aphex, Zutec, and maintain trackers for productivity and labour
- Interface with Network Rail and support ALO planning
- Support BUF, MCRs, TRMs, and ensure compliance with SMSTS and PTS
The Ideal Candidate
- Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Understanding of engineering principles and construction techniques.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and document control systems.
- Relevant CSCS card.
- Training in Health & Safety and Environmental Management.
- Presentation skills for inductions and briefings.
Desirable
- Proficiency in CAD, Primavera, and Synchro software.
- Experience in deep foundations, shafts, or tunnels.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
