SCL Engineering Supervisor
Job Introduction
Our Skanska Costain STRABAG joint venture team is working in partnership with HS2 to deliver the new London tunnels from Euston to West Ruislip. Our joint venture team is working on sites at Euston, Old Oak Common and West Ruislip, building tunnels 13 miles long and up to 50m deep, supporting delivery of HS2 phase one.
We are looking for 2 SCL Engineers to join our HS2 team onsite in London (1 for dayshift, 1 for nightshift. Rotation is 24/5). You will be responsible for ensuring the site set up and SCL works on site, taking a significant role in delivery as well as managing aspects of time, cost and quality
Role Responsibility
Role The role of the SCL supervisor focuses on the technical aspects and quality control of the SCL construction. The position reports to the Senior SCL Engineer and maintains a position that is independent to the delivery team. The construction tasks to be managed are shaft and adit construction. The role will be located at one of four specific shaft work sites, which could change as work progresses. The SCL Supervisor will be responsible for the engineering management of the SCL activities in the shafts and their related adits generally during the night shifts when the Senior SCL Engineer is not present. The SCL Supervisor is to act as an independent witness to the SCL construction activities and will have the authority to halt works where failure to follow agreed methodology or meet quality requirements is observed. The SCL Supervisor will oversee, witness and record the Engineering and Quality aspects of the SCL activities as identified in the Inspection and Test Plan and ensure that the requirements of the RESS are followed by the delivery team. The SCL Supervisor will hold a daily Shift Review Group meeting. They will prepare handover notes at the end of the shift and read and act upon the handover notes prepared by the previous shift. Any incidents, issues or points of note are to be clearly forwarded on to the following day shift, The role will act as the assurance of the process during SCL production, ensuring the demands of the design is undertaken by the construction delivery team. The role will cover 1 out of 5no shafts in the Central Area. The opportunity exists to mentor and develop the technical members of the shafts SCL engineering team.
