Managing Quantity Surveyor – Reporting and iTWO

Role Responsibility

  • Advanced working knowledge of external & STRABAG (or JV) software and everyday use. Focusing on iTWO + Power Bi (understand, mentoring and guidance of QS Controllers and other Managing QS)  
  • Full understanding for and implementation of an archive procedure and regime.
  • Fully conversant with ability to process certificates and payments through the Company systems and the tracking of invoices, incorporating relevant tax matters.
  • Has effective management of all subcontract packages on a contract or within an area including dealing with claims and settlement of major subcontracts. – Management of Sub-Contractor out of ITWO (guidance and procedures)
  • Able to compile, interpret and present cost and value forecasts and cashflow schedules on own initiative for own particular p project or section. The ability to compile complex and multidiscipline cost and value forecasts and cashflow schedules for a major contract or area ensuring the accuracy of the data presented
  • Able to collate and present accurate internal and external management reports on both straightforward and complex contracts & projects.
  • Is fully conversant with and has an in-depth knowledge of the various forms of Method of Measurement and has the ability to initiate and develop measurement and rate opportunities.
  • Capable of negotiating, preparing and issuing sub-contract agreements and supplier's orders within the Company's procedures. Ability to fully manage   procurement schedule(s).
  • Is capable of negotiating, preparation and issuing of all subcontract orders and agreements.
  • Ability to identify opportunity for, obtain information, generate and complete records and submissions unaided.
  • Sound knowledge of the various forms of adjudication, expert, arbitration and litigation procedures and the Company procedures for proceeding with such actions.
  • Able to operate limited procedures on own initiative.
  • A sound working knowledge of the more widely used Conditions of Contract and their variant forms as well as being fully conversant with current project's Conditions of Contract.
  • Ability  to  identify  unacceptable  wording  and  requirements  and  to  progress  acceptable  Bonds.  Guarantees  & Warranties.
  • Can understand and implement necessary the banking procedures and payment criteria.
  • Ability to create cost models from estimating information and details in order to create the allowance document and to facilitate the controlled constructive feedback of actual performance against estimate and the provision of reports on the effectiveness of any terms and conditions. Provide support and input into tender strategies.
  • A sound comprehension of cost planning in relation to project terms and conditions and ability to draft consultation documents for use with other disciplines.
  • Has an in-depth knowledge of insurance covers, the various excesses, limitations and exclusions together with the conditions affecting project specific insurances as well as the ability to manage and settle claims within the Company procedures. Understands the contractual provisions in relation to insurances.
  • Fully conversant with STRABAG (or JV) BIM policy and able to implement on contract.
  • Ability to implement a complete cost and value management system for a specific contract, including setting up of the coding structure.
  • Able to formulate, prepare and present detailed change management documentation and submissions
  • Ability to generate risks strategies and formulate risk management plans
  • Ability to utilise the programme as tool to control contract performance.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

  • iTWO – Knowledge and Understanding
  • Power Bi – how the Visualizations  data in different software (E1, Power Bi and ITWO)
  • NEC contract experience
  • Qualified to minimum HNC (or equivalent) in or similar level
  • Commercial experience within the construction industry
  • Experience working at a similar level

Desirable:

  • MRICS
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or other relevant commercial discipline
  • Experience working on large-scale Rail/Infrastructure projects

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts which include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
