MEP Lead

Job Introduction

We are seeking an MEP Lead (Senior Project Manager/Project Director) to join our Headhouse & Fit Out team here at SCS Railways. 

Reporting to the Head of Headhouse and Fit Out, the MEP Lead will be responsible for the MEP (Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing) fit-out across HS2 S1 and S2 lots.

Role Responsibility

  • Lead the delivery of the design, construction, and commissioning of the MEP works within the shafts and headhouses. 
  • Develop and implement the MEP delivery strategy (including Testing and Commissioning) engaging with the client and suppliers to develop this. 
  • Manage the MEP ECI subcontracts through the design phase and lead contract negotiations with the subcontractor (s) for the delivery of the construction phase
  • Shape the MEP delivery team resource requirements to suit the needs of the contract and work with the Project People team to recruit necessary resources
  • Input into MEP related procurement including identifying long lead time and high risk packages and products to secure the delivery in line with requirements
  • Ensure the interfaces with relevant stakeholders or identified and managed
  • Development and submission of construction phase plans for MEP Works


Other Responsibilities

  • Leading the MEP project team, including subcontractors, suppliers and 3rd parties, including implementation of the health, safety, environmental and quality standards into construction planning and works.
  • Promoting and monitoring the roll out and implementation of SCS values and behaviours
  • Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

  • Experience in a similar level role, responsible for the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems including management, procurement, design, construction, testing, commissioning and handover. 
  • A professional qualification or degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related subject 
  • Strong leadership, communication and conflict management skills

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of delivering MEP works on a major rail project 
  • Experience of Early Contractor Involvement models and NEC forms of contract
  • Knowledge of industry regulations for design, construction and testing and commissioning of building services (e.g. BS 7671 and Building Regulations).
  • Expert knowledge of products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
  • Experience of a self-assurance contract environment

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
