Logistics Control Tower Manager

Job Introduction

About the role:

The Logistics Control Tower Manager will join the SCS Logistics team that manages construction logistics across the HS2 main works. They will be responsible for managing the Logistics Control Tower at Willesden Euroterminal ensuring effective planning, execution, and review.

The Control Tower Manager will lead the team at the Control Tower. All Logistics team members will be expected to work as a team providing support, cover and developing best practice.

The role is aimed at Logistics professionals who can demonstrate a track-record of achievement in project, people, and client management in scale projects. The key success criteria and areas of responsibility are shown below. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate their suitability through their experience at interview.

Role Responsibility

Role Success Criteria:

  • World Class Control Tower Service to SCS and HS2
  • Successful project management delivering business improvement initiatives
  • Mentor and develop direct reports to ensure development in Control Tower Team
  • Effective relationships with Logistics Leadership Team, Area Logistics Managers, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders
  • Effective issue resolution and continuous improvement
  • Forecasting and capacity planning within site and HS2 Environmental Statement constraints
  • Managing effective coordination between the Control Tower, site operations and suppliers
  • Effective issue resolution

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of 2 Shift Managers
  • Liaison with suppliers and site logistics operations
  • Complying with Construction Logistics Plans 
  • Operating the SCS Logistics System including supporting the Supply Chain where required.
  • Booking-in process
  • HGV compliance
  • Performance reporting
  • Highways & transport management

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working a logistics environment
  • Experience in a Control Tower Operations
  • FORS/CLOCS Knowledge
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English (essential)
  • Good organisation skills (essential)
  • Good IT skills e.g., Excel, Word (essential)

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
