Lifting Appointed Person
Job Introduction
As a Lifting Appointed Person, you will require an excellent understanding of a variety of Lifting techniques, Equipment and Accessories. Reporting to the Lead Lifting Manager, you will be responsible for lifting operations for work activities . This will include method selection; writing, reviewing and auditing lift plans, whether lifting undertaken directly or through subcontractors to ensure compliance with industry standards, project guidance and the latest best practice.

Role Responsibility
- Lead and take control of the management of Lifting for work activities.
- Supervise, train and mentor the site Lifting team to enable them to optimise their work contribution.
- Liaising with teams on the project to advise and contribute to lifting solutions
- Categorisation of lifts; devising lifting methods; equipment and accessory selection; then planning, and producing Lift Plans.
- Procurement and maintenance of Lifting Accessories and Lifting Equipment
- Reviewing and auditing lift plans produced by others in the lifting team or by subcontractors.
- Issuing Permits to Lift.
- Briefing the lifting teams on the planned works, any potential interfaces and the control measures and ensuring understanding is tested and recorded
- Monitor and inspection of lifting operations
- Keeping all records and registers up to date including of inspections, lift plans and briefings.
- Ensuring all Lifting operations are suitably covered by appropriate Temporary Works assessments.
- Keep abreast of best practice developments in the lifting professional and/or industrial field and communication of these through the Lifting team.
- Set the highest example for Health and Safety Requirements
- Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- CPCS Appointed Person
- Experience in planning and implementation of Lifting Operations
- Microsoft Office Literate
- Knowledge of LOLER1998 & BS7121
- Slinger Signaller/Crane Supervisor experience
Desirable:
- ALLMI Appointed Person
- Temporary Works experience (TWS/TWC)
- Comfortable in use of AutoCAD (2D)

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
