Lead Appointed Person

You are responsible to your Manager stated above for the execution of your individual job responsibilities. You shall:

  • Support your Manager and the staff under your control
  • Manage and control your section of the work according to the agreed programmes and requests from the site teams
  • Lift Plans to be prepared and issued for approval
  • All Appointments /Lift Plans /Permits are to be shared on SCS SharePoint
  • Give updates of your planned weekly schedule
  • All new SCS procedures to be implemented and updated when issued

To cover your absence from site during holiday periods, you are to handover your duties to a delegate agreed with your Manager.

  • For the exercise of your responsibilities on this project, your appointed roles are detailed below.

Your specific duties and responsibilities on this project are listed below: 

  • Liaising with teams on the project to advise and contribute to lifting solutions.
  • you will require an excellent understanding of a variety of Lifting techniques, Equipment and Accessories.
  • Categorisation of lifts; devising lifting methods; equipment and accessory selection; then planning and producing Lift Plans.
  • Reviewing and auditing lift plans produced by others in the lifting team or by subcontractors.
  • Issuing Permits to Lift.
  • whether lifting undertaken directly or through subcontractors to ensure compliance with industry standards, project guidance and the latest best practice.
  • Briefing the lifting teams on the planned works, any potential interfaces and the control measures and ensuring understanding is tested and recorded.
  • Keeping all records and registers up to date including of inspections, lift plans and briefings.
  • Monitor and inspection of lifting operations.
  • Procurement and maintenance of Lifting Accessories and Lifting Equipment.
  • Ensuring all Lifting operations are suitably covered by appropriate Temporary Works assessments.
  • Set the highest example for Health and Safety Requirements.
  • Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.
  • Train and mentor the site Lifting team to enable them to optimise their work contribution.

The Ideal Candidate

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential: 

  • CPCS A61 Appointed Person 

Desirable: 

  • CPCS A61 Crane Supervisor

EXPERIENCE 

Essential:

  • CPCS Appointed Person.
  • Experience in planning and implementation of lifting operations.
  • Microsoft Office Literate.
  • Knowledge of LOLER1998 & BS7121
  • Slinger/Signaller/Crane Supervisor experience.

Desirable: 

  • Temporary Works experience (TWS/TWC)

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

Essential

Relevant :

  • CPCS card, training in health and safety and environmental management

Desirable:

  • Basic computer competence (e-mail ms word, excel & SCS IT

 

 

 

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts which include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The combined value of the contracts is around £1.8billion with the works due for completion in 2025.  Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
