IT Tunnelling Manager

Job Introduction

IT role embedded within the tunneling team to manage technologies and suppliers.

This role will work closely with IT and follow existing procedures to ensure integrity and availability of mission critical services. This role report to Tunnelling Manager.

Role Responsibility

  • Responsible for efficiency and integrity of Tunnelling technologies especially TBM data and segment mgmt. system and Communication and Safety system in the tunnel.
  • Support the implementation of technologies starting from the design phase, and responsible for adoption and roll out.
  • Work closely with IT team to implement and follow/manage required IT procedures (service acceptance, incident mgmt., access mgmt., knowledge mgmt., DR, etc).
  • Responsible for information security and data protection compliance for tunnelling technologies.
  • Supplier management including performance, service level agreement and commercial
  • Manage major incidents, providing punctual actions, requesting the vendor of identifying their root causes and defining remedial actions (problems, prevention, and avoidance).
  • Ensuring preventive maintenance and regular supplier reporting occur to schedule and to quality.
  • To define and maintain a business continuity and disaster recovery plan with supplier and tunnelling team and other stakeholders.
  • Asset Mgmt of tunnelling IT infrastructure and devices.
  • Plan and execute exit plan.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Project management foundation including risk management
  • Commercial awareness
  • IT management and technical experience
  • Understanding of cyber and info security principles
  • Experienced in dealing with Suppliers, Customers and Stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills
  • Teamwork capabilities

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high-speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high-speed services.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts which include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The combined value of the contracts is around £1.8billion with the works due for completion in 2025.  Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
