Head of Assurance, Quality & Compliance

Job Introduction

As Head of Assurance, Quality and Compliance, you will be heading up a team of professionals and subject matter experts and responsible for the AQC within Area East. You will support the PMO Director in the Area, also provide support to AQC Director in the support and enabling functions to ensure the highest of standards in Technical Assurance, Quality Assurance, Compliance and Handover are upheld.

Role Responsibility

  • Custodian and coordination of the Technical Assurance, Quality assurance and Handover Process in Area East
  • Management of the Assurance, Quality and Compliance Team in Area East
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to the Senior Leadership Team members in the field of Assurance, Quality, Compliance & Handover.
  • Manage relationship with Client team in the field of Assurance, Quality, Compliance and Handover in Area East
  • Assisting the PMO Director in developing the strategy and processes necessary to assure quality through the delivery stages of the lifecycle.
  • Monitor and deliver the Technical Debt Action Plan.
  • Advising on the selection and developing appropriate systems to ensure compliance with the works information whilst enabling the project to work towards a paper free quality assurance system.
  • Assess and advise on Client needs and requirements for effective quality control.
  • Ensuring that quality is fully embedded in the procurement process for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Act as an ambassador for the project in Quality Assurance with internal and external stakeholders through arranging events and activities / campaigns to promote quality through thought leadership.
  • Investigate innovative approaches to improve quality process and their implementation to improve efficiency.
  • Maintaining an awareness of new and proposed legislation that impacts the project and communicating any changes to the Area East SLT.
  • Identifying and investigating areas of quality risk / issues and make appropriate recommendations for corrective action.
  • Provide leadership and strategic approach to handover that meets the HS2 requirements – including the BIM and compliant to the Common Data Environment.
  • Managing motivating coaching and mentoring the Assurance, Quality, Compliance and Handover team members.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential skills:

  • Experience of forming and leading high performing teams.
  • Experience of delivering solutions to complex problems involving multiple stakeholders.
  • A good understanding and significant experience of applying System Engineering Tools and Techniques
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary/complex project environment.
  • Credible in building relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work flexibly.
  • Chartered Engineer / Appropriate professional qualifications or equivalent experience

Desirable skills:

  • Proven track record of delivering Technical Assurance, Interface Management and Quality Management on large and complex infrastructure Projects.
  • A good understanding and significant experience of implementing Information Management systems and processes on large complex projects
  • Experience of Large Complex Railway projects

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
