Head of Asset Protection

Job Introduction

This role is to provide leadership and a single point of responsibility for Asset Projection across the project. You will be responsible for the Asset Protection Strategy and process for the ongoing management of Asset Protection across the HS2 works.

Role Responsibility

Overarching Responsibility:

  • Implementation of the SCS Ground Movement Control Management System.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Continuous review of process implementation to identify improvements and minimise the risk of damage to assets caused by construction induced ground movement.
  • Assess technical competence in the construction teams and train, guide and support accordingly.
  • Ensure consistence of process across, and alignment in communication with the Client, across all areas.
  • Support and guide the Area Asset Protection Managers.
  • Manage a master risk register for construction induced ground movement.

Deliverables:

  • Report on the review of the SCS IMS, Team Structure and Roles & Responsibilities to identify improvements and omissions.
  • Guidance notes for the Area Asset Protection Managers.

The Ideal Candidate

Required

  • Theoretical and practical understanding of all types of instrumentation
  • Understanding of data processing, correction and presentation techniques
  • Understanding and experience of ground movement assessment and mitigation design.
  • Understanding and experience of reaching agreement with asset owners.
  • Leadership of teams and individuals.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and individual mentoring.
  • Aptitude for continuous improvement and knowledge capture and sharing.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, C. Eng., MICE

Desired

  • Experience of providing training and briefings.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm to develop individuals and improve the performance of the team.

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services 

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts which include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The combined value of the contracts is around £1.8billion with the works due for completion in 2025.  Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
