Handover Certification Engineer

Job Introduction

 

The Handover Certification Engineer will support in the planning, review, collation, closure and sharing of package construction quality handover records, to achieve acceptance and completion for construction certification. The role will also include aspects of production or supporting the production of collation and technical authoring of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals and Health and Safety (H&S) Files for final handover.

 

The Area West Handover and Certification Engineer will report to the Handover Manager within the Quality team and will engage across the delivery, quality, engineering and technical assurance teams, together with supply chain and the HS2 client team as appropriate to align with the Technical Assurance timeline for package closure. They will provide assurance to both the SCSJV Management and the Client that the Delivery Team and the supply chain are delivering the Works in accordance with the Works Information and the Lead Designer requirements

Role Responsibility

  • Review, collation and packaging of construction quality assurance (QA) inspection records for closure of the construction packages
  • Support and tracking the review, cross-referencing and closure of non-conformance reports (NCRs), Defects and Defects and outstanding works lists for construction package closure and handover
  • Active user of the SCS Zutec electronic quality record system to manage review, closure and packaging the QA records. Mentoring and coach others on its operation and use
  • Support the Handover Manager to agree documentation deliverables and refine the content requirements of O&M Manuals and H&S Files and agree with relevant stakeholders and HS2
  • Communicate with the delivery and supply chain teams to ensure full understanding of QA and handover deliverable requirements, coaching or mentoring as appropriate.
  • Production / supporting the production of collation and technical authoring of O&M Manuals and H&S Files for final handover. Liaising with the design, delivery and supply chain teams as appropriate to support their production
  • Liaise across the teams regarding the timely and accurate production, checking and issuing of construction and handover certificates
  • Support in planning, monitoring, progress / dashboard reporting on the close-out of QA record packages and O&M manuals and H&S files
  • Supporting the planning and tracking the production and completion of redline and as-built drawings
  • Support the electronic document reviews and approvals of packaged records and handover deliverables on SCS review tool EMT and document management system Assetwise
  • Promote the pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement. Recommend and implement changes to achieve operating efficiencies and ‘Right First Time’.

 

The Ideal Candidate

 

  • Experience in quality or supporting quality closure and certification on infrastructure projects
  • Technical authoring skills for handover documentation
  • Computer competence in the use of digital tools e.g. Zutec, Assetwise, EMT or similar
  • Computer competence in MS suite - Word, Excel & PowerBI (preferable)
  • Professional qualification – Degree / HND or equivalent
  • Relevant CSCS Card
  • Knowledge of the operation of document control systems
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
