Finance Business Partner

Job Introduction

About the role:

We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to work on HS2 Main Works. You will be responsible for supporting the Head of Business Partnering. The focus will be to ensure the accurate flows of information and data discipline / control environment for the SCS JV. The role reports directly to the Head of Business Partnering.

Role Responsibility

Accountabilities

  • Finance Business Partner/lead for an Area
  • Project Accounting – Ensure actual costs are accurate in value and code structure (WBS/CBS)
  • Month-end – Cost transfers, Subcontract Liabilities, Staff, Plant
  • Financial reporting and forecasting of cost and cash (Sterling and Euro)
  • Financial control, Governance, segregation of duties & process flows
  • Maintenance of sound financial controls, in line with JV guidelines, ensuring that all applicable requirements can be met at all times

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monthly Finance Dashboard
  • Weekly Reporting – Timesheet tracker, PO approvals, Delivery Tickets
  • Forecasting and Reporting Review meetings
  • Staff Reporting updates
  • Work with Area teams to ensure robust site reporting
  • Finance KPIs
  • Understand the commercial contracts in use in order to challenge the commercial position ensuring reporting represents a fair and accurate reflection on contract performance
  • Work closely with the Senior Management to improve project reporting and reduce commercial risk.

Cash

  • Ensure cash forecasts are robustly prepared and accurately reported (Sterling and Euro)

Other

  • Proactively looking for areas to improve or reduce cost
  • Support Defined Cost Auditing – Supply Chain accounts
  • Assist project teams with client audits, helping minimise disallowed costs and improve project cash flow.
  • Assist with the setup of the projects processes and control environment.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • 5 years PQE Accountant with a recognised professional body (eg ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Relevant experience in a project based finance team within the construction, infrastructure or similar industry
  • Strong Excel, IT & Communication Skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Takes ownership of output
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Self-confident

Desirable

  • Previous experience ideally in a similar role within the construction industry
  • Knowledge of Oracle E1 accounting system

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
