Field Engineer

Job Introduction

Our Skanska Costain STRABAG joint venture team is working in partnership with HS2 to deliver the new London tunnels from Euston to West Ruislip. Our joint venture team is working on sites at Euston, Old Oak Common and West Ruislip, building tunnels 13 miles long and up to 50m deep, supporting delivery of HS2 phase one.

We are looking for a Field Engineer  to join our HS2 team onsite in London. You will be responsible for acting as an independent person with surveillance / witness / hold points at the interface between design and construction activities. The aim being that all assurance documentation and permits are in place prior to such activities as major excavation, shaft sinking etc, giving assurance that design requirements are fully met, and safety assured. Specialists are on-board covering TW and SCL.

Role Responsibility

Responsibilities:

  • Independent evaluation and document check at point where construction advises readiness to dig
  • Mange the RFI, FCD, and NCR processes, ensuring that documents are appropriately routed, answered, and closed out within the specified timeframes.
  • Produce weekly performance metrics as a dashboard for RFIs, FCDs, and NCRs, including a clear list of those technical requests open, and those overdue
  • Produce and implement a recovery plan for any slippage

The Ideal Candidate

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant scientific subject.
  • Demonstrable previous experience of engineering processes on a major project of similar nature.
  • At least 3 years previous experience in a similar role
