FRC Production Manager (Sub Agent)

Job Introduction

We are looking for a Production Manager to manage our fabrication facility for threading and bending reinforcement at Copthall in West Ruislip.

Role Responsibility

  • Develop the design, construction methodology, programme and cost. Prepare for the delivery of the works, including resources, procurement, consents, and pre start documentation.
  • Prepare for the delivery of these works, manage resources and providing supervision, advice and guidance to the members of the Construction teams and Sub-Contractors.
  • Ensure the progress of the works are in accordance with the contract, programme, budget and design requirements.
  • Manage QA within section of works, including compilation of handover packs and gaining client approval.
  • Be fully conversant with subcontractor’s contract conditions, assist to develop job specific subcontract conditions and manage the subcontractors account with the QS team.
  • Requisitioning resources in a timely manner to ensure that they are correctly specified and readily available so as not to impede the construction programme.
  • Communicate to the Construction Manager, QA and QS teams non-conformances and any instructions received from the client / designer / RE’s staff. Ensure that comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works are maintained.
  • Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes / variations, subcontractors’ attendance, and records of work related discussions with Client / Designer / RE / Project Team.
  • Ensure that inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works are being implemented and adhered to.
  • Implementation of health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Minimise wastage and drive project sustainability requirements
  • Liaising with members of the Delivery Team to determine programme priorities
  • Tracking and reporting outputs to ensure deadlines are met
  • Understanding and implementation of quality management systems
  • Attending weekly meetings and audits as and when required
  • Procurement of materials and consumables
  • Communicating with workforce on daily, weekly, monthly priorities in order to manage programme
  • Identifying and reporting of non-conformances. Reviewing of non-conformances with different disciplines and ensuring measures are in place to prevent re-occurrence
  • Reviewing design drawings, reinforcement drawings and schedules to produce take-offs
  • Liaising with design teams to ensure constructability of drawings
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and making recommendations where necessary to drive continuous improvement
  • Ad-Hoc duties as and when required

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proficient in Health, Safety and Environment
  • Strong organisational Skills
  • Assisting in managing sub contractors
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Competent in the use of IT and digital software
  • Previous experience of working with reinforced concrete structures
  • Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental management (SMSTS)
  • Understanding of quality management and engineering principles
  • This role would suit a sub agent with FRC experience
  • Temporary Works experience (desirable)
  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, sequencing and best practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working to and implementing construction contracts.
  • Ability to use initiative based on engineering and practical experience.
  • Capable of working independently and proactively to progress works but also skilled at working collaboratively with other integrated team members and external stakeholders for the overall benefit of the project.
  • Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Document Control Systems, Auto CAD).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to adjust communication style to suite receiver.
  • Relevant CSCS Card.
  • Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
