Data & Solution Architect

Job Introduction

SCS IT Team is responsible for managing cloud-based services and on-site facilities for about 2000 users.

Our services are SaaS by construction related solution providers, and our effort is towards ensuring business requirements and service levels are met.

We are looking to onboard a Data Architect to who will create a data strategy for the SCS organization and provide technical guidance around data management and data strategy.  A strategic thinker who has implemented data archive and analytics solutions and created high level and low-level technical documentation.

This is a hands-on role as the Data Architect will be responsible for the data architecture, data governance, data standards, data analytics services, integration delivery, data quality and master data management.  Implementation of Databricks and Data Warehouse solutions  

The role will report to Head of Systems and Data and will provide cover and support the Head of Systems and Data.

Role Responsibility

  • Responsible for creating a data strategy document and roadmap
  • Responsible for definition, implementation and championing of Data governance, standards, and quality, directly and/or via Digital Data team and/or via education and awareness of Data Owners and their SMEs.
  • Drive Data innovation and the vision “from data to Insights”.
  • Turning business problems into data design. Work with business and technology stakeholders to translate business problems into data designs. You can create optimal designs through iterative processes, aligning user needs with organizational objectives and system requirements.
  • Lead the delivery of and manage a data infrastructure that supports complex data analytics services and management reporting requirements.
  • Responsible to create and maintain the data architecture with multiple views to support both technical team and business in understanding and manage data.
  • Helping to maintain the integrity and security of the organization’s data
  • Responsible to define and maintain data interchange architecture.
  • Own and manage data management solutions architecture related artefacts (integration inventory, integration architecture/design, guidelines, integration patterns
  • Responsible for the development of the integration capabilities across systems of record with the aim to create efficiency, master/slave data model, and enable the delivery of management reporting requirements. Own the development and management of the integration catalogue.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all dashboarding and reporting requirements across the JV ensuring delivery effort is prioritized across projects and teams with frequent reporting of progress to all stakeholders.
  • Closely work with support/service team, 3rd parties to monitor integration related issues and lead resolution in timely manner (specially production incidents) and take proactive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with IT Security policies, and participates in security, audit and regulatory initiatives. Reinforce security rules and escalate where risky activity is detected.
  • Document processes, procedures, and plans, including changes, upgrades, and new integrations.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced in the design and implementation of integration products from vendors like Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Dell, etc. and delivering Databricks and Data Warehouse solutions.
  • Proficient with data architecture development and exploitation including data modelling and reverse engineering of data model from live systems. (must have)
  • Hands on experience of implementing Databricks and Data Warehouse solutions (must have)
  • Understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks
  • Demonstrable experience in managing the delivery of reports and dashboards to a diverse set of stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in managing the delivery of integration architecture and the ongoing support therein
  • Experience in driving Master data management.
  • Cloud Experience (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) - especially Azure and PowerBI
  • Proven architectural design skills and ability to discuss the merits and trade-offs of using any particular design approach and technology.

With a background of data management and having a minimum of 3 years' experience in a Data and Solution Architect or similar position/role or working within established architecture practice.  Developed enterprise level data management designs and delivered accordingly using suitable technologies, adopting appropriate standards and governance.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
