Data Protection Officer (Part-time)

Job Introduction

Overview

Responsible for data privacy compliance and advice across the SCS JV, the Data Protection Officer will ensure compliance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. They will also be responsible for identifying privacy-related risks and the management of the same, together with developing policy and compliance documentation and raising awareness across the SCS JV.

More about the role

Working as part of the legal, ethics and compliance team, the DPO will report to the General Counsel and will be an ambassador for the team.

The role will be delivered on a part time basis, 3 days (24 hrs) per week.

The successful candidate

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate clear competency and meaningful work experience in data protection practice.

In assessing competing workstreams, they will be able to establish priorities, based on the associated risks and value derived by the business. They will have the confidence to find a way through a complex organisation to fact find and problem solve.

They will be pro-active, with an appreciation of the need to help deliver management or mitigation measures in response to identified risks. Working closely with business users, they will be ready to ‘roll up their sleeves’ and fix shared problems, rather than advising at arm’s length.

Detail-oriented, they will understand that a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach is often not appropriate, whilst still being able to identify and exploit efficiencies.

They will be highly organised and an excellent communicator, supporting effective reporting to, and over-sight from, senior management.

Finally, they will enjoy working in a fast-paced and complex commercial environment and will bring energy and commitment to the role.
