Job Introduction

The SCS delivery programme is based upon the development and application of a common data environment (CDE) with appropriate automated workflows and notifications to expedite the delivery process in the most efficient consistent and timely manner.

About the role:

The data analyst for technical assurance will primarily be responsible for the delivery of all data analysis to support the automation and delivery of datasets and dashboards ensuring data quality is not compromised. Directorate to provide core skills in resolving out data alignment challenges and address the lack of integrated data that provides a single view of the technical assurance process.

Key activities that need to be addressed are to provide dashboards for the team, develop the master data management framework and be responsible for all data analysis activities across the directorate and work with the digital data team, suppliers, and client to align overall data domain models and data standards. This role will report into the Head of Tool Improvement.

Role Responsibility

  • Responsible for all data analysis activities across the Technical Assurance directorate
  • Develop dashboards and reports to the standards defined by the Digital Data team.
  • Maintains awareness of technology changes within the BI software industry and uses them to inform technology roadmaps and choices
  • Supports the ongoing development and maintenance of the corporate data warehouse and all required reporting/dashboarding
  • Works with functional departments to ensure the consistent application of data standards and data quality policies across all technology projects, systems and services
  • Responsible for development of the master data management framework for Technical Assurance Directorate
  • Supports data quality awareness across the JV
  • Work with the digital data team and client to align overall data domain models and data standards

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of developing Datawarehouse solutions to known delivery methodologies (Kimball, Inmon)
  • Demonstrable experience in the development of reports and dashboards to a diverse set of stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communicator
  • Self-Starter, able to plan and prioritise workloads
  • Experience in developing complex data models

Desirable:

  • TOGAF, Zachman
  • Cloud Experience (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) - especially Azure
  • Data modelling
  • Leading software development – especially reporting & dashboarding solutions

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts which include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The combined value of the contracts is around £1.8billion with the works due for completion in 2025.  Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
