Community Investment Manager

About the role:

Working alongside internal and external partners, the Community Investment Manager (CIM) will further develop, embed and deliver a coordinated Community Investment Plan (LCIP) for the HS2 London Tunnels project being delivered by SCSjv, building strategic relationships with local stakeholders and community groups to meet framework and client requirements.

The role holder will coordinate and measure the implementation of a portfolio of community investment projects across our three distinct delivery teams. The overarching CIP will contribute to the SCSjv Social Value Strategy, whose Vision is:

“To leave a positive and sustainable legacy through the social activities we deliver, contributing to the long-term wellbeing and resilience of individuals, communities, and society in general. “

The Community Investment Manager will report to the Community Engagement Strategic Lead. The role will work in close partnership with the Community Engagement teams within our delivery areas to identify local opportunities and support those teams to manage their community investment programmes, activities and events, helping to create positive and sustainable long-term benefits for those local communities impacted by our works. This will be through donations of time, resources, knowledge and experience and funds from within SCSjv and our extensive supply chain.

The Community Investment Manager will play a key role in delivering the industry-leading Empowering Communities programme within SCS, creating strong working relationships to deliver coordinated projects across all the HS2 contractors in the London area.

Role Responsibility

  • Further develop and shape our new CIP, and launch it across the project for maximum impact and buy-in.
  • Work collaboratively with the delivery Area Engagement Teams, utilising their local knowledge and community relationships to understand community demographics and identify areas of need, supporting them to ensure local community groups have the opportunity to influence and inform the local investment programmes in each area.
  • Identify, manage and develop key client, strategic stakeholder and community relationships throughout the project lifecycle to support the wider Social Value Strategy.
  • Work in close partnership with the Skills, Employment and Education (SEE) Area teams.
  • Work with supply chain partners to maximise potential opportunities to deliver innovative and creative schemes to support the wellbeing of our communities.
  • Develop and implement metrics for progress reporting and performance monitoring, identifying and escalating any potential risks or opportunities, and work with the Legacy team to report on our social value contributions.
  • Manage the project-wide Community Investment budget to maximise value for money.
  • Work closely with our engagement and external communications teams to create a narrative about how SCSjv is helping HS2 to build a better future through community-focussed initiatives and leave a legacy for the next generation, promoting a positive image and raising public awareness of the benefits of the HS2 project, SCSjv and our parent companies.
  • Ensure positive initiatives are coordinated and shared through the Communications Team, raising awareness through variety of internal and external channels in accordance with client and parent company branding and publicity guidelines.
  • Support the public events delivered by the Area Engagement and Legacy teams as required, developing and delivering content on social value and community investment.
  • Work with all HS2 contractors within the London area to deliver the industry-leading Empowering Communities agenda, driving change, innovation and new delivery practice.
  • Build a network of internal and external collaborators to maximise impact of investment opportunities across area delivery boundaries.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Direct experience of creating and driving community investment initiatives and legacy projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a proven background in building credible relationships with all stakeholders including senior teams, client and external partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills across a variety of communication channels.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills and demonstrable ability to identify opportunities and drive change.
  • Experience of the construction industry.
  • Community Engagement or Stakeholder Management experience.
  • Experience of working across complex multi-disciplinary organisations.

Please note this role will require a DBS check.

 

Desirable

  • Direct experience of working on major infrastructure projects.
  • Previous Project Management experience.
  • Experience in financial and budget management.
  • Media experience / training.

About the Company

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
