BIM Coordinator

Job Introduction

This role is a coordination role supporting the Delivery Unit BIM Lead. Responsible for assurance and reporting of BIM information. Also responsible for supporting construction team with model and drawing development.

Role Responsibility

  • Coordination, assurance and Implementation of BIM in accordance with the SCS BIM Execution Plan.  
  • Production and coordination of the key BIM deliverables such as Data Acceptance Certificate (DAC) and Model Production Delivery Table (MPDT) among others to assure supply chain BIM deliverables in line with the Employers Information Requirements. 
  • Supporting the Delivery Unit BIM Lead to ensure the correct activities are undertaken and key deliverables are produced to achieve project milestones.
  • Being a point of contact for other disciplines, supply chain and third parties.
  • Assisting in ongoing activities such as sharing the models, running model quality checks, creating and updating progress trackers, and similar.
  • Ensuring BIM Coordination models are up to date and shared with the required project teams.
  • Being a link between various disciplines such as engineering, design, construction, temporary and permanent works design, following the BIM process outlined in the SCS BEP
  • Coordination and development of the design to Construction through BIM processes such as 5D/ 4D to ensure consideration and optimisation of the opportunities for sustainability, digital engineering, buildability, carbon, logistics, industrialisation designing for maintenance and health, safety and welfare during construction and in-use.  

The Ideal Candidate

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Educated to HNC or higher 
  • Sustained Continuing Professional Development.  
  • Experience across all stages of a project lifecycle.  
  • Experience of working within project environments  
  • Experience of managing the challenges associated with multi-disciplinary teams.  
  • Understanding of BIM in design and construction phases and of using the Digital Plan of Works.   
  • Preferable to have experience of industrialised construction. 
  • Working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations. 
  • Project experience in supporting or managing the BIM process in accordance with PAS1192:2 


Desirable/Advantageous Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience coordinating, interrogating and assuring the quality of BIM deliverables.
  • Implementing, promoting and auditing data quality.
  • Involvement on large complex projects in the infrastructure sectors, in a rail environment.
  • Proficient in a range of BIM related software such as Navisworks, Solibri, Revit etc
  • Experience in coordinating complex, multi-discipline in-house BIM models with supply chain and third parties.
  • Contribution to working with large data sets, databases, and using coding and/or ETL solutions to process this data e.g. FME, Python.
  • A good understanding of BI needs, including data manipulation, analysis, and visualisation skills, including Microsoft Power BI.
  • Knowledge and awareness of survey methods, point clouds and as-builts.
  • Familiarity with Bentley suite of software for example Open Buildings Designer, ProjectWise.
  • Familiarity with .ifc file types and schema including mapping and converting from other model types and formats.
  • Awareness of PAS/BS1192 and ISO19650 standards, relevant certification desirable.
  • Awareness of GIS file types and methods of working.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
