BIM Commercial Co-ordinator

Job Introduction

This role is a coordination role supporting the BIM, environmental and commercial functions to manage quantities and change through the BIM model, BIM data lake and 2D drawings.  Responsible for assurance and reporting of BoQ data through database integration.  Also responsible for supporting the environmental team with information to support lifecycle carbon assessment and commercial team with understanding use of BIM model and drawings development

Role Responsibility

  • Extract data from the project SQL BIM data lake/Power Bi reports to supply to the Environmental Team for carbon assessment.
  • Compile and manage Power Bi reports from appropriate data sources in order to support the carbon assessment.
  • Collaborate with BIM/Design Team in ensuring models are the correct format and contain correct metadata for informing and driving commercial and environmental functions.
  • With the QS and commercial team develop reports that showcase change to support variation orders for the client.
  • Ensure that Bill Items are correctly formatted on the Project Database.
  • Collaborate with other commercial functions such as project controls, procurement, finance and Quantity Surveying
  • Extract quantities from the BIM model and align them to Bill Items so the project can track change and audit quantities.

Support and train QSs on the job to extract Quantities from BIM models

The Ideal Candidate

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Educated to HNC or higher
  • Sustained Continuing Professional Development. 
  • Experience across all stages of a project lifecycle. 
  • Experience of working within project environments 
  • Experience of large complex projects in the infrastructure sectors (Desirable). 
  • Experience of managing the challenges associated with multi-disciplinary teams. 
  • Experience of using 5D Quantity Take Off/Estimation/Project Controls software.
  • Understanding of Commercial practices such as take-off, Bill Item creation, and commercial data sharing so other commercial function such as procurement and finance can carry out their roles.
  • Understanding of BIM in design and construction phases and of using the Digital Plan of Works. 
  • Preferable to have experience of industrialised construction

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
