Assistant Project Accountant
Job Introduction
We are looking for an Assistant Project Accountant to work on HS2 Tunnels and Shafts Delivery Unit. As an Assistant Project Accountant, you will be assisting and reporting to the Finance Business Partner for the Tunnels and Shafts project.

Role Responsibility
Accountabilities
- Financial control, Governance, segregation of duties & process flows
- General administration of finance information and data, ensuring records are maintained for an adequate period, kept securely and sufficient information is kept meeting project & group requirements.
- Maintenance of sound financial controls, in line with JV guidelines, ensuring that all applicable requirements can be met.
- Meeting accounting deadlines
General Duties
- Assist with Creditor Queries
- Month end Journal Preparation and input inclusive of accruals and prepayments
- Generation and analysis of cost reports
- Cost transfer journals
- Subcontract Tracker report
- Assistance with Employers Liability and Plant Insurance renewal reports & data
- Subcontract Dashboard
- Generation of Order approval reports
- Euros & subcontract payment preparation & checks
- Preparation of the Temporary & subcontract assets registers
- Purchase Card Reconciliation
- Perform other accounts duties as and when required.

The Ideal Candidate
Essential
- 2-3 years experience in Finance
- Minimum level - Intermediate Excel skills
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and computer systems.
- Self-starter, organised, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Studying towards a recognised Accountancy qualification
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload to meet business deadlines & needs.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience in project based finance
- Experience working with Power BI

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
