Assistant / Graduate Quantity Surveyor
Job Introduction
The Assistant/Graduate Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for providing accurate, timely and value generating input to the HS2 MWCC project. The role supports the team in ensuring that all commercial aspects are carried out in accordance with the contract, HS2 and SCS project policies and procedures, and to the satisfaction of the Customer [HS2] and the Contract Leader.

Role Responsibility
- You will be able to demonstrate the ability to function as a member of a Customer/Contractor integrated team and will be inputting to the efficient and effective management, producing accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence
- Manage the Design timesheet approval process including producing dashboards using software such as PowerBi on a weekly basis obtaining/ maintaining approvals, providing supporting information for cost/value reconciliation to approved budgets, preparation and input to monthly reports.
- You will be working as part of the design commercial team and will be required to assist with the preparation and assessment of sub-contractor applications for payment, general contract management, including budget and cost control, management of on-boarding of the designer’s people onto the scheme.
- You will also be involved in organising and ensuring the monthly reporting calendar into HS2 is met, assist with ensuring good record keeping and notifications are managed in accordance with the contract/sub-contract requirements.
- You will be required to ensure all health, safety and environmental risk situations are brought to the attention of the senior commercial person or the Contract Leader.
The Ideal Candidate
- Be proactive in self-development and professional qualification
- Will have understanding or experience of business systems, spreadsheet development, cost analysis, programme evaluation and development, compensation event and/or variations assessment and evaluation.
- Increasing knowledge of a variety of forms & options of contracts.
- Have experience or appreciation of the risk management process for both schedule and cost and the use of Earned Value Management.
- Have experience or appreciation of company policies, procedures & controls, operating office management systems including filing systems and document control and distribution, and assist in the drafting of contractual correspondence on behalf of the project and project manager.
- Holds an RICS/CICES accredited degree, or enrolled on an accredited part-time post-graduate degree with at least three years of relevant experience

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
