Assistant Engineering Manager/CRE

Job Introduction

Reporting to the Area Contractor's Engineering Manager (CEM), the Assistant Engineering Manager will be responsible for discharging (Construction) Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) duties, assisting in the review and approval of designs and construction plans, as well as interfacing with Network Rail and representing SCS Railways at T-DWWP (T-minus Delivering Work Within Possession) meetings.

Role Responsibility

  • Assist in the Review and approval of Work Package Plans (WPP) and Task Briefing Sheets (TBS) – providing constructive comment to achieve best practice
  • Assist in the Review and approval of Permanent Works F002, F003 - providing constructive comment to achieve best practice
  • Assist in the Review and approval of Temporary Works F002, F003 - providing constructive comment to achieve best practice
  • Assist in the Review of Construction Management Plans (CMPs) against the requirements of Design Management Plans (DMPs) developed from Ground Movement Assessments (GMAs) - providing constructive comment to achieve best practice
  • Assist in preparation of AMP Forms
  • Assist in site inspections, and visits, as required
  • Rostered attendance as required
  • Assist in the Tracking of Network Rail deliverables: Site works: WPPs; Design Works: F002/F003; Temporary Works: F002/F003; Rail Asset Surveys & Monitoring: AMP Forms & CMP, TMP
  • Represent in T-DWWP review sessions, and provide updates
  • Additional point of communication to the Site Package Teams

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree (or equivalent) in relevant engineering discipline (Civil/Mechanical)
  • Chartered or near Chartered with Rail project experience sufficient to allow Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) nomination, or to be near nomination

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts which include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
