Agent - Asset Protection
Take control of the management and delivery of works within a designated section or area as assigned by the Project Manager. Lead and drive the works to progress in line with the Contract Programme, optimising commercial outcomes, while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Ensure effective leadership, coordination, and development of the site engineering and operational teams, providing technical guidance and promoting a positive and collaborative working culture.

Role Responsibility
- Manage, lead, supervise, and mentor the site engineering and operational teams, enabling them to optimise their contribution to the delivery of the works.
- Plan, coordinate, and drive the delivery of asset protection and infrastructure works, including structural mitigation, bridge protection, heritage structure works, and the installation of Instrumentation & Monitoring (I&M) systems.
- Review contractual agreements, technical designs, working methods, programmes, and forecast costs in collaboration with the Construction Manager, General Foreman, and subcontractors/suppliers — identifying inconsistencies, feeding back changes to the QA and QS teams.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain programmes and forecast budgets; assess actual progress and productivity weekly, taking corrective action where necessary and reporting updates to the Project Manager and QS team.
- Manage subcontractor accounts alongside the QS team, ensuring job-specific conditions are developed and subcontract conditions are adhered to throughout the works.
- Requisition labour, plant, and materials in a timely and accurate manner to ensure resources are available as required without impacting the construction programme.
- Liaise and coordinate with QA and QS teams on non-conformances, client instructions, and site changes, ensuring comprehensive records of resources and additional works are maintained.
- Check diaries are detailed and accurate, including records of site activities, changes, subcontractor attendance, and key discussions with client, designer, and project teams.
- Ensure inspection and test plans (ITPs), risk assessments, and method statements are in place, reviewed, approved, and strictly adhered to on site.
- Stay up to date with developments and best practices within the civil engineering and infrastructure sector, actively promoting continuous improvement within the team.
- Produce regular financial and project progress reports to support financial forecasting, monitoring, and control of project costs.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders, providing clear and consistent project updates and progress reports. Also provide necessary information to gain approvals.
- Lead by example in promoting health, safety, environmental, and sustainability best practices, ensuring site activities are carried out to the highest standards.
The Ideal Candidate
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
- Understanding of Engineering Principles
- Knowledge and Understanding of construction contract law and forms of contract through experience and formal training.
- Extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
- Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system, Primavera software).
- Relevant CSCS Card
- Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management
- Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.
- Understanding of NEC contracts
- PTS – Personal Track Safety (desirable)

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
