Agent - Tunnels and Walkways

Job Introduction

 

Initially developing work plans, temporary work conception, optimising TBM drive site layouts, craneage planning, developing management and emergency planning.

Subsequently will act as the Person in Charge on a shift during the construction of TBM driven tunnels from installation to demobilization. 

Roles, Responsibilities & Experience:

  • Experienced in working as a PIC on a EPB TBM tunnel.
  • Production and review of Risk Assessments, WASPS and Method Statements – in particular high-risk activities to ensure adequacy of risk mitigation
  • Carry out briefings (Method Statement, Start of Shift, Safety Alert etc.) as and when required
  • Participate in/occasionally lead weekly SHE inspections and champion Project and SCS SHE initiatives
  • Ensure safety, environmental and quality non conformances are reported to the Management Team in a timely manner
  • Provide support to the Section/Shift Engineer(s) on TBM guidance, Ring Geometry and Survey Control
  • Reporting on ground condition monitoring and any changes, significant or otherwise
  • Preparation and implementation of Inspection and Test Plans and deriving task specific Check Sheets in line with project QA requirements
  • Ensuring site team compiles accurate diaries detailing resources used/activities undertaken/problems encountered during the shift
  • Reporting progress against sectional programme and providing narrative on delays/problems/innovation
  • Efficient procurement and management of materials
  • Optimization of drive site layout/setup to maximize TBM efficiency of operation
  • Maintain a proactive approach to problem solving in conjunction with the site team as required and reporting on solutions found
  • Subcontract management as required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in TBM tunneling, with a particular emphasis on excavation of London Clay / Lambeth group utilizing an EPB TBM.
  • Engineering Degree/HNC or similar in a construction discipline
  • IOSH or SMSTS
  • Working towards chartership

Desirable Qualifications & Skills

  • Appointed Person (Cranes)
  • Temporary Works Coordinator
  • Member of ICE/IMMM
  • Experience in planning and programming multi discipline works, particularly within the tunnelling industry
  • Good track record in cost control and opportunity identification

Demonstrable record in SHE/quality risk assessment and risk mitigation

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
