Accounts Assistant

Job Introduction

As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the Project Accountant within the project’s core team with the focus on costs recharged to the project from its JV partners and all central finance functions on the project.  The role reports directly to the Project Accountant.

Role Responsibility

Accountabilities

  • Project Accounting - Integrity of costs and accuracy & transaction processing
  • Financial control, Governance, segregation of duties & process flows
  • Maintenance of sound financial controls, in line with JV guidelines, ensuring that all applicable requirements can be met at all times
  • General administration of finance information and data, ensuring records are maintained for an adequate period, kept securely and sufficient information is kept to meet group requirements.

 

General Duties

  • Preparing & posting accurate journals/accruals/liabilities in line with accounting policies, accurate cost allocation and analysis costs
  • Process payments through the project’s banking system (Lloyds) & Bank Reconciliations
  • Analysis of partner charges, obtaining supporting information and query/action incorrect charges
  • Posting other documents and journals in E1
  • Administration of the Timesheet Portal

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • 2+ years accounting experience
  • Excel, IT & Communication Skills
  • Competent in retrieving and understanding data from the chosen timesheet system
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Takes ownership of output
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Self-confident

Desirable

  • Studying towards a recognised qualification
  • Previous experience ideally in a similar role within the construction industry
  • Experience of using a computerised accounting system (E1)

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
